 ZILLA PARISHAD

Zilla Parishad is the Upper Tier of the Panchayat Raj System. Zilla Parishad is the Legislative wing at the District level. It has independent statutory in the District level. It has been different names, in the Gujarat called District Panchayat, in the Assam called Mahakum Council. It comprises various types of Elected members, Co-opted, Ex-officio members. District level authorities like the District collector, chairman of District Co-operative Bank, District Co-operative Marketing society and District Library Samstha participate in the meetings as Permanent invitees. Every Zilla Parishad comprises Six organs namely:

1. Zilla parishad

2. Chairman

3. Zilla mahasabha

4. Chief executive officer

5. Standard committees

6. District collector
